Mill Lodge Primary School Remodelling

This phased modernisation scheme includes demolishing the existing 2No. temporary mobile classrooms that previously provided the schools Nursery, Year 1 & 2 Classroom accommodation and replacing them with a bespoke BREEAM Education ‘Very Good’ rated extension to include the principle accommodation and specialist sustainable items (as listed). The existing school envelope will be replaced and enhanced where possible to significantly improve the aesthetics and thermal performance to reduce the schools carbon emissions and energy bills. The external landscape will also be improved to suit DDA requirements, provide; secure play areas, outdoor sheltered classroom spaces and ecological enhancements will provide improved educational opportunities and site bio-diversity.

Feature 1

Mill Lodge Primary School a 40 year old ‘Halls’ type system build which is an economic efficient timber framed single and two storey building (Similar to a Vic Hallam type) that is in a moderately dilapidated condition. The site is unique with respect to the numerous limitations and constraints; sloping topography, multiple external users (School, Private Nursery & Children’s Centre) with shared access and limited parking, difficult access to the construction area (requiring a temporary road for material deliveries and machinery).
