Valley Infants School Remodelling

This phased modernisation scheme was developed closely with the client, school and various advisors to include the provision of a BREEAM Education ‘Very Good’ rated extension for a shared community / school use Multi-Purpose Room, with ancillary storage and welfare accommodation to support self sufficiency. The existing ICT Room has been extended to double in size to suit whole class usage. Other internal amendments include providing a secured main entrance lobby, an enlarged Reception & Bursars Office and a dedicated Reprographics Room with secured stores. The school also have circa 80% internal improvements via refurbishment to include new floor, wall finishes & in some areas new lighting.

Valley Infants School is a 50 year old ‘Halls’ type system build, which is a economic efficient timber framed single storey building (Similar to a ‘Vic Hallam’ type) that is in a fairly dilapidated condition. The existing whole school envelope (Glazing, wall & roof cladding) will be over clad, replaced and enhanced to significantly improve the aesthetic and thermal performance to reduce the schools carbon emissions and energy usage costs. The external landscape works will be improved to suit DDA requirements, site security, ecological enhancement, increased bio diversity and the inclusion of 3 canopies to form external sheltered classroom spaces to enhance curriculum activities. Upon completion the 50 year old school will look brand new.
